Disneyland and California Adventure Park are a 22 minute drive from Sunny Los Altos. Set your GPS to the Toy Story Parking Lot. You likely won't bump into any traffic if you arrive around opening time (which we recommend). Our family of 4 took a two day trip to the park and enjoyed it so much we have returned several times.
Sunscreen
Stroller. Young and older kids alike enjoy resting in the stroller. More importantly, adults can use it to store food and drinks instead of on their backs. At Sunny Los Altos we have a double stroller available for use as of 10/1/23.
Water bottles
Food. Even if you don't have food allergies, bring your own snacks, possibly in a cooler, to save money, avoid restaurant lines and give everyone something to do while waiting on ride lines. For folks navigating food allergies, the restaurant staff is very helfpul and ingredients are posted online.
Allergy scenario kits. Our daughter had an unexplained sneeze attack during the trip. The Disney clinic was helpful and gave her Zyrtec. We usually bring our own Xyzal on trips.
Battery phone charger
Genie+ & individual lightning lane: We highly recommend spending the extra money to access the lighning lanes. You can buy this and parking in advance.
While we brought a cooler and imported much of our own food, here are the places we went to and had a good experience navigating dairy, egg and nut allergies:
Lunch: Hamburgers and veggie raps at DL's Galactic Grill
Lunch: Tacos, rice and beans at CAP's Cocina Cucamonga
Dinner: The kids enjoyed pasta with red sauce at DL's Plaza Inn
Food allergies make some kids feel different and think there is something wrong with them. Watching your kids conquer their fear of a ride and seeing their confidence build makes the whole trip worth it. For our 5yo daughter, Splash Mountain was her confidence boost. Guardians of the Galaxy was too much for her and we regret taking her on that one. For our 7yo boy, the Incredicoaster and Guardians of the Galaxy were his favorite and he came out of them beeming. Honestly our 7yo was more nervous speaking to Darth Vader and Captain America than riding the coasters.
